Shaker Style Office Desk

This eight-leg shaker style desk was built for a client who works for a law firm in DC.  She was looking for a set of high quality office furniture which blended traditional design elements with some modern styling.  The desk is made from solid hard maple and is built with a traditional shaker frame and panel construction featuring tapered legs.  The panels on the sides, back and interior are bookmatched (i.e. sawn from a single piece of wood and opened like a book so that the grain structure is a mirror image about the center line).  All of the drawers feature handcut dovetail joints and solid wood bottoms.  A 'client' writing board can be extended from the backside of the desk to provide an additional writing or typing surface. As with all my pieces, the size, style, wood selection, and coloring can be customized to suit the customer's requirements.

• Solid hard maple construction - utilizing wide boards for full grain patterns. • The dimensions are 30" high x 36" wide x 72" long - other sizes available on request • Bookmatched panels, curved aprons, and tapered legs • Handcut dovetail & mortise and tenon  joinery throughout the piece • The file drawer is supported on a ball bearing roller slide • Extendable writing surface on back side of desk • This desk was finished with a hand rubbed wiping varnish -  then buffed and waxed to a satiny sheen. • Other woods, styles and finishes are available
