Computer Desk

This shaker style computer desk was built for a client who works for a law firm in DC.  She was looking for a set of high quality office furniture which blended traditional design elements with some modern styling.  This desk is made from solid hard maple and is built with a traditional shaker frame and panel construction featuring tapered legs.  The panels are bookmatched (i.e. sawn from a single piece of wood and opened like a book so that the grain structure is a mirror image about the center line).  An extendable 'writing board' can be pulled out from either side of the desk to provide additional writing or typing surface. As with all my pieces, the size, style, wood selection, and coloring can be customized to suit the customer's requirements.

• Solid hard maple construction - utilizing wide boards for full grain patterns. • The dimensions are 28" high x 36" long x 24" deep - other sizes available on request • Bookmatched panels, curved aprons, and tapered legs • Traditional mortise and tenon  joinery throughout the piece • Extendable writing surface pulls out from either side • Wire grommet in top rear surface of desk with matching hardwood cover • This desk was finished with a hand rubbed wiping varnish -  then buffed and waxed to a satiny sheen. • Other woods, styles and finishes are available
