Center Leaf and Inlay

 This dining table was designed as part of a mahogany dining set for a customer who wanted to match the inlay pattern on a set of dining chairs that she had purchased. In it’s round configuration, the table can comfortable seat 7-8 people.  The addition of two central leaves can expand the table to a oval design (often called a racetrack oval) which can seat upwards of 12 people. The size of the table is 72" diameter and 30" tall with two removable 12” central leaves. The table top, aprons and base are constructed from a matched set of wide, solid mahogany. The table has a curved apron which follows the curve of the table top. In the center of the table top, an 18" diameter sunburst pattern is inlayed with a burl center to compliment the pattern found on the customer’s chair backs. The base of the table features turned columns with fluting and scrolled legs with a carved foot scroll. The table features a reproduction wooden extension mechanism to allow the use of two 12" wide center leaves. The table base is constructed with traditional mortise and tenon joinery. The table is stained a brown mahogany color based on stain samples provided and finished with a hand rubbed varnish.    The table size, style, wood selection, and coloring can be customized to suit the customer's requirements.
