Mission Style Tall Clock
This Tall Case Clock (or Grandfather clock) was built as a reproduction of a Mission Style clock found by one of my
customers. Using design ideas from two different Mission (or Arts and Crafts) style tall clocks, we worked out a
design for this clock to showcase a variety of highly figured woods. The clock is constructed with traditional
pinned mortise and tenon joinery. The glass doors and windows are all constructed from individual pieces of glass
(like a stained glass window) - typical in a period piece.
The hardware from the clock was obtained from Horton Brasses, and the clock features reproduction glass in both
the front doors and side lights. The overall size of the clock is 76" high, 22" wide x 14" deep. The size, style, wood
selection, and coloring can be customized to suit the customer's requirements.
The clock works can be obtained from several sources - this clock features a reproduction (weight driven, 8 day)
movement by David Lindow with a hand painted dial. (Prices for works range from $500 to over $2500.) I am
happy to work with the customers to select the appropriate works and make arrangements for the dial painting
and designs.
