Connecticut Valley Candlestand with Drawer
The scalloped top candlestand shown below was constructed from solid cherry. The top is approximately 18" x
18" and stands 25" in height. The edges of the top feature a scalloped pattern typical of a number of Connecticut
pieces, some of which are associated with the Chapin family workshop. The top on this table is made from a
single wide board and the edges of the scalloped top are shaped by hand to a graceful curve. The candlestand
features a double ended drawer which can be pulled out from either end (typically for storing candles). This piece
is finished with hand rubbed boiled linseed oil and varnish.
