Antique Country Hutch

This hutch is a reproduction of a Connecticut River Valley Hutch from the late 18th century. I searched far and wide before finding a good source for the antique white pine lumber. The wood used to build this hutch comes from a barn which was constructed during the civil war. Most of the planks were over 15" wide and had beautiful coloring and patina. The overall size of the hutch can be customized to your space requirements.

Features

• The dimensions of the corner cabinet are approximately 80" high x 60" wide x 18" deep - these dimensions can be customized to meet specific requirements. • Constructed from a matched set of antique pine • Upper and lower cabinets are separated at waist for transportation and moving. • Traditional joinery and construction is used throughout. • The upper two shelves are adjustable with a "bird's mouth" system - popular in that time period • The base unit features a single fixed shelf which is 3/4 depth. • The solid plank doors feature dovetailed battens to prevent warping. • All the base joinery is sliding dovetail and mortise and tenon construction. • The backboards are solid wood with ship lap joinery • The piece is finished with multiple coats of shellac, waxed and rubbed to a satin patina.
